A logo should be appropriate in form and concept, distinctive and memorable, and be as simple as possible. We all know that right?! But what else we should know to design a good powerful logo concept?
1. Minimal & Memorable

A simple logo design will take you far. The simpler a design is, the easier it is for people to remember it! You want your logo to give its message as fast as possible! You don’t want it to be hard to understand. By making a logo as minimal and unique as possible your logo will stand out and stay in people’s minds and it will do that all in the time it takes for a car to zoom by a billboard on the side of the road.
When designing a logo it is easy to spend all our focus and energy on creating a unique and graphically artistic design, we often forget that one of the main properties of a logo is its ability to advertise! Zooming by on the billboard beside you, or an eye-catching can in the middle of tens of identical cans in the store, what makes a logo so special that it stays in your mind? A minimal and simple design gets noticed by people easier and stays in your memory longer.
“Design is so simple! That’s why it’s so complicated” -Paul rand
2. AGELESS
A good logo is infinite; It will stay relevant through all ages and time, The design will not get old and used, or non-relatable. To achieve this, you shouldn’t get fooled by the ongoing trends, because trends come and go and a logo should be forever!
For a Logo to surpass time, the designer should give identity and uniqueness to its design. By reaching your personal style as a designer your logos start to speak for itself and it won’t need the help of trends to be eye-catching or get noticed!
“Things of quality have no fear of time” – Christiana Gaudet
3. ADAPTABLE
A good logo should be practical and function on all kinds of materials and platforms. A logo should be made in vector format so that it can be scaled to any size and work both in horizontal and vertical formats.
Ask yourself; is a logo still functional if:
It is printed in just one color?
It is printed very small like on a bottle cap? It is printed very big like on a billboard?
A good way to create an adaptable logo is by designing it in black and white at first, so you can concentrate on the design shape and form and not the color. Color can be very personal in designs, and by testing your logo in black and white, you are making sure your base design is not defined by just the color.
Logo Designers should keep in mind that printing is not cheap; If your design uses too many colors printing it could be costly for the client in the long term.
